Cellphone Wonder

I was thinking of buying a cellphone and in my research I came across an interesting view by a financially inclined person. His thoughts are interesting, in that he divided cellphone users into categories that I did not see elsewhere and came up with the list of functions the device should support for a category.
Interesting. Read it here: http://financiallywise.wordpress.com/2008/06/22/do-i-need-a-cellphone/

Kill Time

Recently I've been forced to stay at home due to personal reasons and was finding increasingly difficult to kill time. First option was to "work-from-home". But that did not work out since my laptop refused to connect to my office VPN. Then, I tried reviving the hobbies that I once enjoyed but had to quit due to lack of time. I felt better, but strangely, hobbying daily seemed to make it less of a hobby and more of work and made it less interesting. So I did not stretch it further.
Surfing the net had always been the greatest time killer/hogger and I thought that would serve the purpose, but after a couple of days of 12-hour-a-day surfing, I got bored with that too.
What could a person do regularly for a couple of months and not get bored?
My options are exhausting fast. I thought of shopping for a new cellphone assuming that having a new gadget will keep me busy and entertained for a while. I still have that thought but not so tempted to buy another cellphone as I already have one.
What do you do to kill time? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
